Ricardo Semler: Radical wisdom for a company, a school, a life

What if your job didn’t control your life? Brazilian CEO Ricardo Semler practices a radical form of corporate democracy, rethinking everything from board meetings to how workers report their vacation days (they don’t have to). It’s a vision that rewards the wisdom of workers, promotes work-life balance — and leads to some deep insight on what work, and life, is really all about. Bonus question: What if schools were like this too?

Here is much more about the speaker.

He says: "The purpose of work is not to make money. The purpose of work is to make the workers, whether working stiffs or top executives, feel good about life.

Fantastic video, truly inspiration and completely and utterly agree- schools and education should be formed around choice, voice and agency.

I would have loved have seen his employee when the 'new way' of business was introduced...I bet there were a few initially quite confused faces.

I wonder too if terminally days are something that 'teachers' should have access too- we talk about our children being connected, responsible, risk-taking individuals and I reckon that giving teachers the permission, of sorts, to let go for a day every now and and again would work wonders in developing this into a reality.
