In the following erudite and compelling video, Vicki Saunders shares some of her formative experiences in business. One that stood out for me was the time when she was heading up her business, having become increasingly successful, she was advised that she could not be the CEO when the business went public, because the CEO would need to be a man. Since that time (and yes, she took the advice, one of her few regrets) Vicki has come across many other similar women, who have had the same experience.
As a result of her experiences, Vicki was motivated to set up SheEO, which she describes in the video. You can find out heaps more if you hop online and have a look at the SheEO website...and you can find out how to become an activator.
The description of the talk (from the Worldwomen conference site) reads:
We live in truly transformational times. Our economic system has resulted in 8 men having the same wealth as 3.5B people. Our traditional institutions are challenged with the pace of disruptive change and our innovations are coming from places we never imagined. It is in this context that women are emerging to lead us on a new path forward. Women have more capital, buying power and influence than ever before and our unique leadership styles and lens on the world is a gift the world is just starting to realise. Vicki will take us on a journey to show how women's leadership, women's innovations and women's drive for a more just world is not only on the rise, it may be the solution to the challenges we are facing globally.
