Student Voice Revolution: The Meaningful Student Involvement Handbook

You may be familiar with the amazing work done by Adam Fletcher and his work around student voice, and his keen interest in personal engagement in education for K-12 students, as well as adult learners.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the posts Adam has shared with this community, and the associated 'conversations'. His provocations have really challenged me, and helped me rethink what I understand as authentic student voice and engagement.

So, I was really excited when Adam dropped me a line sharing his new book called Student Voice Revolution: The Meaningful Student Involvement Handbook. He writes that "clocking in at 374 pages, it's packed with research, examples, tools and more to help districts [regions], schools and individual teachers take steps forward to fully embrace Meaningful Student Involvement. There are exciting graphics, engaging stories and powerful citations throughout the book, too".

The overview on Amazon reads:

Student Voice Revolution: The Meaningful Student Involvement Handbook is the brand new mastery guide focused on student voice, student engagement, student/adult partnerships and more. Containing tons of details, this book is focused on engaging all students in every school as partners in every facet of education for the purpose of strengthening their commitment to learning, community and democracy. There are more than 75 examples from the author's experience and research throughout education literature. Never before published tools, new models and useful tips are featured, along with hundreds of citations, dozens of current and historical anecdotes and more. This book also highlights unique approaches, detailed assessment and critical examinations of school activities, all of which make this unlike anything else available today. It was written for educators, students, teachers-in-training, school leaders and advocates for education reform. Student Voice Revolution is an optimistic, realistic and practical wake up call for the future of schools in democratic society. Are YOU ready for the revolution?

I'd highly recommend getting hold of this book if you possibly can. It's a practical guide with heaps of questions to get conversations going, and tools to support practical ways forward. Congratulations Adam - this is, I feel, and outstanding resource.
