Free to use: Women in global workplaces

"We want our images to be used for the public good."

Helena Choi, Hewlett Foundation

Images of Empowerment, is a new Creative Commons licensed ( CC-BY-NC ) photoset from the The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. These powerful images are insights our global community, and are "a beautiful representation of women's crucial role in local economies" (CC email, 4th August, 2016).

The site reads: "The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation has long supported organizations that work to ensure women have full and fair opportunities to earn a living and can choose whether and when to have a family.  Yet the images of this kind of work, particularly in developing countries, often focus on the tremendous need—families living in poverty or long lines of women waiting for health services—rather than what we consider most important: women in decision-making roles, earning income, and accessing reproductive health care information and services" (source).

"With this in mind, the Hewlett Foundation commissioned two sets of photographs which are available—free of charge—to noncommercial users" (source).

"Read stories of power from Getty Reportage and Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO) with this special curated collection for CC supporters" (CC email, 4th August, 2016).
