An infographic put together by Rosetta Stone, who illustrate how learning a foreign language at school is beginning to look very different. They explain that "The Internet provides 21st Century students with access to instant information, audio and visual resources as well as providing the tools to make real world connections to native speakers. With tools like these types now available, it’s unfair to expect students to master a new language with just a text book, isolated inside four classroom walls".
While it has a US focus, and mentions the Rosetta Stone software, some of the factors mentioned would be useful as a jump-off point for further thinking and exploration. Or you may disagree with some of the points made... :-)
